One Book One Community and Beyond

One Book One Community is a program sponsored by the American Library Association.  It began in 1998 with the novel The Sweet Hereafter by Russell Banks with the idea that communities reading a single book together would have an opportunity to connect and become stronger.  Since then, One Book One Community has spread across the country and across age groups.  This year's adult book is This I Believe, a collection of several of the essays broadcast during NPR's two runs of the "This I Believe" program.

In expanding Allegheny County's celebration of One Book One Community, the Allegheny County Library Association is sponsoring a variety of activities at its locations throughout the County.

These activities include life writing groups and classes.  As I become aware of these groups and other similar groups in the area, I will post their meeting times here.
